What to expect

Signs it may be German cockroaches

You do not need to be certain. Repeated sightings of small cockroaches around kitchens or appliances are a good reason to call.

Small cockroaches indoors

Tell us their approximate size and colour and send a clear photo if you have one.

Kitchen hiding places

Cupboards, sinks and the warm spaces around fridges, dishwashers or other appliances can be important.

Sightings that keep happening

Let us know how often you see them, when they appear and whether they have spread to nearby rooms.

Anything already used

Tell us about sprays, baits, cleaning or previous pest control around the kitchen or nearby rooms.

Before you book

Start with the kitchen and nearby rooms

If you are not sure which cockroach you have, start with the general Cockroach page or send us a clear photo. We can help you choose the right booking.

Tell us where the cockroaches are appearing, how often you see them and whether they are around cupboards, sinks, appliances or food areas.

Preparation varies from job to job, so wait for our instructions before emptying cupboards or pulling the room apart. Tell us about anything you have already moved, cleaned or sprayed.

German cockroaches breed quickly and females carry egg cases with many eggs. Treating only the insects in view can leave hidden harbourage and egg cases active around cupboards and appliances. Activity around food areas also creates a contamination risk; it does not prove a particular surface is contaminated.

What to tell us

  • The rooms and places where you are seeing them.
  • How often they appear and whether the problem is spreading.
  • The approximate size and colour, or a clear photo.
  • Any spray, bait, cleaning or pest control already tried.
  • Any cupboards, appliances or rooms that are hard to reach.

Common questions

German cockroach control questions

If you are repeatedly seeing small cockroaches around a kitchen or appliances, tell us what you have noticed.

How do I know if they are German cockroaches?

Repeated sightings of small cockroaches around kitchens or appliances can be a sign. A clear photo can help, but we may still need to see the problem in person.

What if I am not sure which cockroach it is?

Start with the general Cockroach page or send us a photo. We will help you work out which booking fits.

Do I need to empty the kitchen before you arrive?

Not unless we ask you to. We will explain what needs to be moved, cleaned or made easy to reach before the visit.

Why do they keep coming back?

German cockroaches can hide in small warm gaps around cupboards and appliances. Spraying the ones you can see may not reach all the hiding places.

Will one treatment be enough?

Established activity across several hiding places may need monitoring or another visit. The spread and access to cupboards, appliances or other harbourage decide the follow-up.
